4. Tips on taking pictures of completed work

Taking clear photos or scanning of students’ worksheets and writing assignments can be done conveniently using either a phone camera, scanner or any of the free mobile applications suggested below.

These applications can be downloaded from the App Store (for iPhones) or Play Store (for Android phones).

  • Camscanner, Scanner for me, Scanner App, Genius Scan, ScanGuru

 

For the purpose of this guide, we have used the Camscanner app on an iPhone to demonstrate the steps.

Step 1:

Download and open the app. Click on the camera icon to start scanning.

Step 1:

Download and open the app. Click on the camera icon to start scanning.

Step 2:

Use your phone’s camera to take pictures of the pages that you wish to scan.

Step 3:

Adjust the white circles to the edges and corners of your page. Once you are done, click on the arrow icon to move on to the next step.

Step 4:

Once you have chosen a filter and are pleased with the quality of your images, click on the tick icon.

Step 5:

You will arrive at a page showing the images that you have captured. Tap on the camera icon to scan the remaining pages of the completed work that need to be submitted for marking.

 

We recommend that you scan the pages of all the work to be submitted at one go, so that they will be compiled in a single document.

Step 6:

Once you have captured all the images, you will see an overview of all the images on your screen. Press and hold an image that you have captured to select it.

 

Select the relevant pages that need to be submitted, then click on the icon that says ‘Email’ at the bottom left-hand corner of the page.

Step 7:

Click the icon that says ‘PDF’.

Step 8:

Click ‘Send’ at the top right-hand corner.

Step 9:

You will arrive at a page showing a new email draft. The PDF will be attached to this email. Key in your personal email address under ‘To’, then send the PDF to yourself.

​Please download the PDF attachment in your email inbox via a laptop or other devices.

 

Once you are done, you can click on this link for the steps on how to submit the PDF document for marking.
