A Heroic Act

"It's so hot!" I thought to myself. Last Sunday, I was patrolling the quiet neighbourhood. As the superhero Water Lord, this was part of my duties. I strode along the pavement as the sun scorched the baked ground, buckets of perspiration pouring down my body. The glaring sun made me squint.

Suddenly, I inhaled the strong, pungent smell of smoke. It wafted through my nose, making me frown in concern. As I drew closer to it, I glimpsed something orange in the distance and heard a mousy voice calling for help. Soon, I discovered that the source of the cry was a house on fire! Alarm bells rang in my head. My eyes widened as I clenched my fists, prepared to jump into action.

Instead of feeling fearful at the thought of entering the burning house, I felt a warm sensation radiate through my body. It was bravery! My fear melted away, and was replaced by a surge of courage. I was going to save the person inside! Mustering up all my courage, I flew over to the house like a bolt of lightning. Once I entered the house, I glimpsed a boy surrounded by a raging inferno. He looked at me with a glint of hope in his eyes. The fire scorched my skin as the fiery beast threatened to burn both the boy and me to a crisp. Without delay, I used my water control power to extinguish the fire with a wave. Then, I swiftly carried the boy and flung him over my shoulder, reassuring him that he would be alright. After we escaped, we landed on the ground and took a few deep breaths to calm ourselves down.

As the dust settled, all the onlookers cheered loudly, erupting into thunderous applause. I grinned from ear to ear. I was proud of my heroic act and hoped that I could use my powers to save more people.
