Celebrate the End of PSLE with These Activities!

Teaching the skills that matter most in our brave new world, parenting tips

After a productive and fulfilling year, our P6 students can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the PSLE is over! They can now let their hair down and have fun. Check out this article for inspiration on how your child can spend their time meaningfully as well as bond with the whole family during the year-end holidays.

  • Go on a walking trail

Get moving and enjoy the outdoors with a day of walking! Walking has numerous benefits for your mental and physical health, and it’s an affordable way to spend time with the whole family. There are various self-guided trails you can go on. Escape the boring city landscape and explore nature at Bukit Batok Nature Park or get in touch with Singapore’s history with a culture walk along Ann Siang Hill. Check out the National Parks website for more available trails.

  • Lend a helping hand

Volunteering is a wonderful way to instil empathy and compassion in your child. Sit down with your child and discuss the various causes and charities they feel passionate about and want to dedicate their time to. Your family can volunteer to help animals, clean up beaches/parks or even provide meals for the needy. Check out the SG Cares website for more volunteering opportunities.

  • Become a tourist for the day

If there are no plans to travel overseas, why not become tourists in your own country? Plan a day filled with tourist activities such as visiting the zoo or Gardens By The Bay, or even spend the day exploring Sentosa Island. It could be a fun opportunity to view Singapore from a different perspective.

  • Start thinking about co-curricular activities (CCAs)

Start exploring the different CCAs that will be available in secondary school. Does your child have an interest in sports? Arrange for a family badminton or football match. If your child is more into creativity, look out for speech and drama workshops to nurture that interest or even art classes to bring out the inner artist in them! Exploring all these different activities will help your child decide what CCA is most suitable for them.

We hope the suggestions above will give your child a fun yet fulfilling holiday break, and we wish all our P6 students the very best for their results!

Get ready for Secondary School

Secondary school is a whole new ball game as compared to primary school. It is normal for your child to feel nervous about this change. Consider signing up for our Blazing Into Secondary holiday programme, where we help ease the academic transition by introducing them to the knowledge and strategies to tackle essay writing, comprehension and summary writing.
